Whiskey Sour (Mike’s Version)

Take that Tay-Tay, I can have a version too!

Whiskey Sour: A little workhorse of a drink and personally something I can tuck into year round!

My favorite version of this drink uses egg white with a nice long shake. Don’t be pusillanimous, just do it.

Ingredients:

2 oz bourbon - something sexy but we’re mixing so keep it reasonable

3/4 oz lemon juice, freshly squeezed

1/2 oz simple syrup (I use a 1:1 ratio sugar:water)

1/2 ounce egg white (optional but worth it)

1 mL dropper Tiamat or Grounds For Dismissal Sipping Bitters

Garnish: More bitters!

How the hell:

Add bourbon, lemon juice, simple syrup and egg white, if using, to a shaker, and dry-shake for 1 minute and 30 seconds without ice. Time that shit.

Add ice and shake again for 20–30 seconds, until well-chilled and the shaker is a little frosted.

Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice, or into a coupe without ice.

Garnish with a few drops of bitters on top of the glossy egg whites and drag a toothpick or skewer across the top to add a little design to the bitters.
